CNC Folding

Introduction

SDL has multiple CNC press brake machines ranging in size, speed and tonnage capacity for folding and forming of a wide range of precision components. We have five machines and a large range of modular tooling to suit small to large production runs. 

CNC Folding Technology

Thanks to CNC technology our entire folding process from programming and tool set up to folding itself is extremely productive. PC-based programming can save a lot of time, especially when it comes to complex parts and also allows for programs to be made for upcoming jobs while the machine is still working on the current one, thus reducing downtime. Once the program is created it can be uploaded straight from the press brake machine.

Our folding process significantly reduces manual handling as the benefit of CNC technology allows parts with multiple folds to be completed in one operation, while increasing the accuracy of bend angles for precise and efficient results.

Tooling and Bend allowances

SDL have a large range of tooling available for a range of folding applications. We have also invested in new Rolla-V tooling for better quality folding of a wider range of parts.

Advantages of our new Rolla-V tooling include:

• Little to no marking on stainless steel or aluminium parts,
• Ability to bend significantly small parts,
• Ability to bend near a hole without distortion

We also have available our Bend and Tool allowances chart which includes our standard bend radius and K factors for all sheet thicknesses up to 12mm.
