Stainless Design fabricator Michael Benson has added a WorldSkills International placing to his impressive set of awards. Michael took fourth place in the Sheet Metal Technology category of the global vocational skills competition in Brazil, after winning the category locally, nationally and for the whole of Oceania. Michael was also awarded a Medal of Excellence, which is a huge endorsement of his skills and just reward for his efforts.

Cambridge Resthaven’s new time capsule is “quirky shape” referencing the water tower that is so much a part of Cambridge. The capsule was commissioned by Resthaven to mark the opening of the new Community Centre and it will spend 50 years underground at the entrance way. Stainless Design considered the brief, and then designed and manufactured a time capsule that is a “work of art”.

The Waikato Engineering Student Motorsport Organisation (WESMO) team have produced a great result coming 6th overall in the Formula SAE-A competition held in Melbourne, Australia during December. According to WESMO spokesperson Sam Brien, “The cars steel space frame and various other parts on the car were made possible by the generous sponsorship of Stainless Design and their overall support of the team”.

A giant glowing worm has appeared above ground at the Dunedin Botanic Garden. The flexible worm was manufactured by Stainless Design and made possible by laser cutting an intricate pattern to form a solid piece of pipe. It was transported to Dunedin in two pieces and then assembled onsite at the gardens.
